The YMCA’s Counselor-in-Training (C.I.T.) Program gives highly motivated teens ages 15-17 the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to be an effective day camp counselor. The program teaches them the qualifications to become a camp counselor by shadowing our counselors and helping out with games, activities and all of the fun that goes on at the YMCA Summer Camp! They spend time with their peers and mentor younger kids as well. The C.I.T. program helps further develop their leadership and communication skills, as well as let them gain experience in planning and leading activities for campers. This is an excellent opportunity for those teens that have grown up through the YMCA summer camp program as well as for teens interested in working with children.
