Developmental Assets...Building Healthy Kids
"Y programs have been so great for my child because of the values that they learn!" Suzie - Y parent

What today's children and youth need to become caring, responsible, and resilient adults are lives filled with the same things young people have always needed - people, places, and activities that make them feel special and challenged to do and be their best.
Researchers have identified a group of these positive things that young people need in their lives...Development Assets. The assets show adults what kids need and what adults can give them - from offering a friendly hello to a teen at the local bus stop to more specialized actions such as mentoring a young child in a program. When people become aware of these assets, they often find a new focus and energy for making a difference in their community.
