Annual Support Campaign
Whether due to unemployment, poor health, financial hardship or special circumstance, people struggle to provide for their families. The YMCA of Greater Houston has been responding to the needs of individuals and families in the greater Houston community for more than 125 years. Through skills development, the support of a teacher or coach, or the socialization of a group of like-minded individuals, the Y fosters the care, nurturing and respect all people need and deserve.
We need your help to ensure that no one is denied a chance to participate because of an inability to pay. Only by working together can we give more kids the opportunity to grow strong in spirit, mind and body. Contributions received from our annual support campaign fund the growing number of scholarships awarded to individuals and families in need of vital Y programs and services.
YMCA Camp Cullen Capital Campaign
Thanks to hundreds of generous donors, the YMCA of Greater Houston has invested $21 million dollars into the new YMCA Camp Cullen which includes 24 new cabins, new dining hall, amphitheatre and more! The capital campaign has allowed the Y to again provide the special experience of resident camp for Houston children and families. Camp Cullen re-opened in January 2013 with weekend/family camping and summer overnight camp in June.
We are now raising money for phase two of the campaign, focusing on the programmatic elements needed to ensure an enriching and fun camp experience. It includes new equestrian and arts and science centers. These additions will provide space for programs that will encourage healthy living and eating, increase educational opportunities and prevent summer learning loss through innovative programs.
