YMCA of Greater Houston

Join the YMCA in celebrating our country’s birth!

HOUSTON — On Monday, July 4th at noon members at every YMCA of Greater Houston facility will be invited to stop what they are doing, whether it’s swimming, playing a pick-up game of basketball or working out, and stand to say the Pledge of Allegiance. This is our way of honoring those who have and are still fighting for our freedom and a celebration of our country’s’ independence. Participation is voluntary.

Of course, you don’t have to be a member to take part in this patriotic celebration! The YMCA of Greater Houston is encouraging all Houstonians to consider participating as well. Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing - take a minute at noon to honor our country and say the Pledge.

Members of the media are encouraged to stop by any of the following locations at noon on July 4th:

  • MD Anderson Family YMCA (705 Cavalcade Houston, TX 77009): The pool will be open to members and the general public after the community’s annual Lindale Park parade. The pledge of allegiance will led at the pool at noon by lifeguards.
  • Trotter Family YMCA (1331 Augusta Drive Houston, TX 77057): A BBQ at the Family Fun Pool will be held from 11 am to 2 pm, where staff will lead the members and guests in the pledge of allegiance at noon.
