Find Something for Everyone at the YMCA

The YMCA of Greater Houston offers programs and activities for all ages, abilities and stages of life. Through our programming, we offer a place to build friendships, create positive experiences and participate in programs and activities to enhance well-being. The Y offers youth a path with programs from early childhood to pre-teen to teen and beyond. We provide families with a sense of community through youth sports, swimming, fitness programs, small group training and more, and seniors are given a sense of purpose and a way to keep active. At the Y, we know that positive change only comes about when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors.

Empowering Youth

At the YMCA, we empower youth. Through a variety of programs designed to spark real change in our youth, we believe we positively impact children in ways no other organization can. From ensuring younger children are set for success, college and career preparedness, to teaching the art of global diplomacy, we are elevating how youth see themselves and what they can accomplish. By providing a full range of positive development opportunities, youth are inspired to thrive as they prepare to transition into adulthood.

Our youth programs such as child care (including early care and after school), overnight and day camp, youth sports, international services, adaptive services, aquatics, Y Teen L.I.F.E. and more all contribute to changes among youth both in the short and long term.

Through our programs, youth are able to gain the necessary knowledge to master new skills while in a safe space emotionally and physically. Youth build positive connections with others and have a sense of belonging as they develop social skills, social awareness and empathy. We also see an increase in confidence and their compassion for others.

All of our programming staff are trained to work with youth to develop the skills needed to thrive. Our caring, supportive staff, volunteers and mentors assist youth in discovering their own unique strengths, talents and abilities.

The Y’s programs are designed to better prepare our community’s youth for their future with skills, confidence and social awareness that they need to thrive as they start their own path into adulthood. As young adults, they are prepared for a bright and successful future thanks to the YMCA of Greater Houston.
