Sports for all! Adaptive sports programs at the Y provide children and adults with physical limitations and other special needs the chance to play sports and participate in learning opportunities in a safe, fun atmosphere. The Y, in partnership with The Miracle League, provides a chance to experience the joys and benefits that come from playing baseball.
The YMCA Miracle League is offered at Lake Houston Family YMCA and Langham Creek Family YMCA
Basketball, Cheer, Flag Football, Kickball and Soccer
How is the Game Played?
The YMCA Miracle League provides children with disabilities, regardless of their ability, the opportunity to play baseball. Each child dresses in an official uniform, makes plays in the field and rounds the bases just like their peers with the help of a buddy. It doesn't matter whether the child can hit a coach pitched ball, hit from a tee or needs physical help swinging the bat - the game is geared to the ability level of each child.
How is it Different from a Regular Youth Sports League?
• Each player gets to bat and hit in each inning
• Each player circles the bases and scores each inning
• All games end in a tie
Miracle League Buddies
The YMCA Miracle League is possible in large part thanks to our volunteers known as "buddies." Buddies support the Miracle League players on and off the field during the game and assist them with batting, running the bases, fielding the ball and in general making sure each child has a great time playing baseball.
